In 2010, Dr. Bean suffered a painless heart attack caused by coronary artery obstruction in 5 vessels. The open heart surgery was a success and Dr. Bean believes this is due in part to the regular walking exercise that he did for the previous 14 years.

In 2015, a fellow Rotarian handed him a book entitled Vitamin K2 and the Calcium Paradox, given to him by his cardiologist after placing a stent in one of his coronary  arteries to prevent a heart attack. After reading half way through this book, Dr. Bean decided to begin K2 supplements for himself and his wife, Marjorie, to see if the plaque in their carotid arteries would decrease in size. After 16 months, ultrasound studies showed that the plaque in his carotid artery had decreased from 40% to 10%, and at 36 months the 75% plaque in Marjorie’s carotid artery had decreased to 20%, prompting him to begin a campaign of telling his friends, fellow Rotarians, and family about the benefits of adding Vitamin K2 to their daily routine.

As Dr.Bean continues his drive to raise awareness of the benefits of Vitamin K2, this site has been added as a resource for those interested in learning more about K2. Dr. Bean believes it would be a great break through if more of his professional friends and classmates recognized the potential of K2 and continued his efforts by telling their patients, family, and friends about the valuable role this vitamin can play improving the longevity of all us.

Vitamin K2 is a valuable resource in preventing heart attacks when we use this knowledge to supplement all the other healthy activities necessary to reduce arterial plaques and vascular obstruction, like weight control, proper diet, exercise, avoiding tobacco,  and medical management of hypertension, diabetes, and serum lipids. This simple daily vitamin can vastly improve our chances of living a long and healthy life.
